Geo-Spatial Science workshop
A three-day Geo-Spatial Science workshop was organized by ESRI India, Delhi, at Seth Gyaniram Bansidhar Podar College, Podar GPS, and Panabai Senior Secondary School, Nawalgarh, from September 10 to 12, under the aegis of The Anandilal Podar Trust, Nawalgarh.
The workshop was aimed at guiding students from class 8 to undergraduate levels across all Podar educational institutions.
The program coordinator, Dr. Vinod Kumar Saini, explained, “The Master Mentors Geo-Enabling Indian Scholars (MMGEIS) program offers several benefits for students aspiring to excel in the field of geospatial technology. Under this program, students have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and experts, including former ISRO personnel. Mentors provide personalized guidance, helping students understand complex concepts and advance in their academic journeys. Through this workshop, students were introduced to a broad range of geospatial topics and gained insights into the practical applications of geospatial technology, preparing them to tackle real-world challenges.”
The workshop enhanced the skills and knowledge of students, making them highly sought after by government agencies, private companies, and research institutions.
Co-convener Rajesh Verma added, “Geospatial technology offers diverse career paths, including GIS analysts, remote sensing specialists, and urban planners.”
Dr. Daulal Bohra emphasized, “The workshop focused on developing proficiency in geospatial tools, software, and techniques, enabling students to analyze and interpret spatial data effectively.”
Prof. Chetan Dadhich noted, “This three-day workshop provided students with opportunities to participate in research projects, contributing to advancements in geospatial technology. It also allowed them to connect with industry professionals, forming valuable networks that will benefit their future careers.”
Principal Dr. Satyendra Singh welcomed all seven experts from the ESRI team and expressed gratitude to ESRI India for conducting the free seminar.
Addressing the students, ESRI India’s CEO, Lakshmi Parameswaran, remarked, “ESRI India, in collaboration with ISRO, is working towards establishing India as a hub in the field of Geo-Spatial Science. Through this seminar, we are also providing patent facilities for students in GIS and GPS technologies. This entire initiative is being carried out under the guidance of former ISRO Chairman Mr. Kiran Kumar, former IMD Director-General Dr. J.K. Ramesh, and former Surveyor General of India Mr. Girish Kumar.”
ESRI team Outreach Manager, Mrs. Kirti Sinha, shared that 900 students from Podar Educational Institutions registered for the workshop, expressing interest in geospatial science. Study materials were provided to the participants free of cost through online platforms.
On this occasion, technical experts Raghav Sharma, Yogesh Verma, Shubham Garg, Azam Khan, and Tohid Khan also guided the students.
The three-day workshop was attended by Podar GPS Principal Jean C.K., Panabai Podar Senior Secondary School Principal Dr. Pooja Sen, Dr. Vidyadhar Sharma, Dr. H.P. Singh, and the entire staff of Podar Educational Institutions.
Chairman of the Podar Trust, Mr. Rajiv K. Podar, Trustee Ms. Vedica Podar, and Executive Director Mr. M.D. Shanbhag expressed their happiness over the successful organization of the workshop and encouraged students to make the most of it.
