Department of Botany

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Botany, also called Plant Sciences, is a postgraduate level Master degree course. It is two years duration. It is a very popular postgraduate level course among the bio-science students.

M.Sc. Botany course is best suited for the students who have completed their graduation in botany, and are looking to pursue a course that will have an adequate mix of mainstream biology along with genetics and biotechnology. During this course, a candidate is given a complete idea about the entire plant kingdom and plant physiology, along with some additional topics related to genetics and biotechnology, cell biology, microbiology, and ecology.

If a student wants to go for further studies after completing M.Sc. degree in Botany, then they can pursue a PhD degree. The students completing this course generally go on to build a career in academics. Some students also go for research and higher studies.

M.Sc. Botany student can build a career in many paths. Starting from school teachers to microbiological and virology research field, many different fields and job profiles are open for such candidates.

With each passing day, the demand for M.Sc. Botany candidates in the research field is increasing. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University, Sikar has adopted the syllabus of University of Rajasthan, Jaipur for the course.

Any candidate from Rajasthan who has passed his/ her B.Sc. (Biology with Botany Subject) examination with minimum 55% or 55% marks in Botany  from  recognized University is eligible to apply for the Master’s program. But the candidates from out side the Rajasthan who have passed their B.Sc. examination with minimum  60%  from  recognized University will be eligible to apply for the Master in Botany program.
